As a side project during lockdown, I put together an author website for Alison Marr, a flash fiction and poetry writer based in Kilburn. She had set herself up with a simple Wordpress site when she was on a Creative Writing course a few years ago, but this needed a bit of an update, and she also wanted a simpler way to author posts if possible. I decided that instead of rewriting the Wordpress theme she was using, I would transfer the site over to Jekyll (which I’m more familiar with), add a new clean design, and try to set up a simple CMS for her to author and edit posts.
Just a quick plug for a short piece that recently appeared on the Senate House Library blog. Noting the addition of a recently published book (Authors of the Estate vol. 2) to Senate House Library holdings on community-originated publishing, the piece then goes on to explore some of the community publishers represented within the library, including Centerprise in Hackney, founded in 1971 as the then sole bookshop in the borough.
